a. Mr. Erk introduced the Chemical Industry Sector Assembly of Turkey as one of the 57 sector assemblies under the TOBB umbrella. He noted that it has 40 members from various chemical industry companies, trade associations, bureaucrats and academicians. He enumerated some of its major goals to include:
Policy and strategy development for the chemical industry.
Sectoral report preparations
Enhancement of sectoral performance against international competition
Improvement of investment environment
Enhance R&D in chemical industry.
Erak also talked about the chemical industry of Turkey, citing some figures that underscored the contribution of the industry to the country’s economy.
b. Dr. Larry Shya from the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan, spolek on the status of Taiwan’s chemical industry and its importance in the economic development of the island. He also introduced the activities of the Chemical Technology Research in Taiwan, the activities of the Taiwan Chemical Industry Association, and the activities of the Industrial Technology Research Institute.
