The formal turnover ceremony for the CACCI Presidency also took place during the Gala Dinner, with Mr. Ken Court administering the official oath-taking for the Incoming President Mr. McMullin and the formal turnover of the CACCI flag from Outgoing President Mr. Samir Modi to Mr. McMullin.
In his Valedictory Address, Outgoing President Mr. Samir Modi said: “In the past four years of my tenure, my faith in our vision of promoting cooperation among businessmen in the region and advancing the interests of the Asian business community became stronger. As I delved into the affairs of CACCI, I realized that if we are able to mobilize all our chambers to be one, then we can become a very strong regional body that have a great voice in the world affairs. I hope that this vision of mine to have CACCI become the fore front of change, innovation and development comes true. CACCI came into existence to unite and build a strong chambers movement across Asia – 56 years ago. Over the past few years of me serving as Senior Vice President and later as President, I have developed long-term relationships, met govt officials, trailblazers, innovators, out of the box thinkers, businessmen and women. Each one of them have had a hand to carve out the person I am today.”
Incoming President Mr. Peter McMullin AM in his Acceptance Speech said: “As I’ve learned and confirmed over the past years, the CACCI presidency is a position that carries with it enormous responsibility and challenges. Keeping the Confederation dynamic and in the forefront of the chamber movement in the region is a daunting task for any leader, given the rapid changes in the world economy and their impact on the region’s markets. I am indeed excited to work with all of you and build on the work done by my predecessors. As you are well aware, we are currently living in times where the global economy is seeing several significant shifts that will impact all of us.
In its wake it also brings with it tremendous opportunity that we can harness together. However, I am confident of working harmoniously with the new team of officers who, individually and collectively, are committed to push our Confederation forward. Together, we will do our best to make CACCI an effective forum for advancing the cause of business and promoting economic cooperation. I believe we are in a position to do just that, given the vast resources our membership can provide.
The CACCI Council agreed to hold next year 2023 37th CACCI Conference in Cambodia, with the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce on as host, on October 30-31, 2023.
